This morning, I went to the Chinese Embassy to apply for Visas, when I reach there approaching the counter, one applicant looked at my forms and told me,” The old one cannot use any more, see those people over there, they are asked to fill in the new one.” He pointed to a table not far away.

I have been expecting this situation before I came to the embassy, I realized that the form had change totally when I got it from the travel agent, I knew I would be in trouble. Out of the four application forms, the old one belong to my mother-in-law, her home town is 250 kilometers away from my house. When she was in my house last week during the festive season, I just asked here to signed the old form as that was the form I had, without realizing that the form had change.

What would you do if you are in my situation? I was expecting it but not from an applicant who was asked to fill in a new form, definitely not! When My term came, I smile to the person in charge , a young girl and asked, ” I know the old form cannot be use any more, very sorry and I have this one old form here.” Handed here the four forms, three new, my wife, my son and mine with an old form from my mother-in-law.

The officer look at me and replied, “Yes the old form cannot be used any more.”

My replied to her, “Yes, I know, very sorry for that but she stay in a different division.” I told her the name of the division, and she looked a me again and said, “Are you apply for yourself or from travel agency?.” Before I have a chance to reply, by looking at the form and passport, she knew this is a family application but I still politely told her Yes, they are my family.

“OK, this time I’ll process for you, next time you need to use the new form.” Interestingly, she asked me whether I want a multiple entries Visa after seeing my passport, I told her that the next application I will apply for multiple Visa and thank her for her kind assistance.

Now some of the die hard Secret Fan will attest and attribute this to the Law of Attraction. Frankly, I was thinking of the worse scenario, gave her the three new forms and send a new form to my mother-in-law and come back again. But I have used a little strategy to smooth-en the situation, in the conversation, there are many Yeses between her and me and naturally, the ultimate answer has to be affirmative. No Positive Thinking here as I was thinking of the worse scenario but Positive Action get the job done.
