Now I get your attention. I am applying what I have learn from UYMG to attract some attention.
No I did not feel being rip off. Someone else did, and is not only one person, at least I know a few. I was having dinner with a few participants after the closing night; apparently, a couple felt that the UYMG is not much different from the World Internet Summit in Singapore last year. Well, I did not attend the World Internet Summit even though I have 2 Free tickets, the couple felt disappointed but I told them to apply what they had learn and started from there. Feeling disappointed will get you nowhere. And when you have a few disappointed people get together, you will start what I call a “Pity Party!” trying to find more confirmation on your sorrow.
Now 2 of them put a comment on my blog, the latest being,
UYMG was a disappointing event. It was just an over-rated, over-priced and under-delivered repeat of World Internet Summit in Singapore minus the laptop. Laptops weren’t even used to its fullest capacity. It was only used for taking down notes. Internet connection sucks. Speakers were not good and their packages were way expensive. I felt ripped off. ![]()
I hope that they are just applying the “Kick Butt” strategy shared by Stephen, “leave a contraversial remark on a blog to attract traffic.”
However, if this is their intention, they might be disappointed as this blog is fairly new. I suggest they put on my other blog, www.ebusinessmemo.com, more traffic and a Google PR 3 to link to.
Personally, I feel that I get what I am looking for and more that I bargain for. Honestly, I may not agreed with the over promotion and pricing of some of the speakers programs, but heh, if you aspiring to as successful as them one day, don’t you wish you and your products can command such a Premier Price tag.
I have talked to some participants and now visited a few blogs; some are confused, what is the different between Internet 2 (I think he meant Web 2.0) and Niche Marketing 2.0. Frankly, I am confused too, especially on the Niche Marketing 2.0. As a chartered Marketer, I am a little confused on Niche Marketing 2.0. I know Chris Anderson’s book “The Long Tail” – why the future of Business Is Selling Less of More; is a very dry book because it is more of a research based on the question “What happen when everything in the world becomes available to everyone?” But then again, the long tail shouldn’t be that’s confusing.
Personally, I am very impress by Ken “The Storm” Shimuzu’s presentation on the Business Management, many company who paid ten of thousands of dollars on “Business Reengineering” should get to listen to Ken. He is able to explain complex management theory into simple analogy that every one can understand. I especially like the “Ultimate Boiled Egg!” and “The Restaurant Service Process”, and the opening, “where do you want to go?’ “How to get there?”. You know, those different types of planes shown on the slides. Many people have a good laugh, but how many get the message?
If you still feel being rip off, perhaps, you chose to take a sampan to Texas.
What mode of Transportation are you taking on your journey of success?

i heard many negative feedback from many people about UYMG KL too.. the key to this I believe is the mismatch in expectations. many newbies are expecting hands-on to build an online business from scratch which the event did not really put a lot of emphasize on.. however, on the other hand if you think about it, intermediate and advanced marketers will start to rise another issue about it if uymg kl is too basic… i guess it is hard to achieve a good balance..
for me personally, i learned some new stuff from this uymg too.. but i know much of these stuff are too advanced for newbies.. for example, on day 1, mike filsaime and greg cesar went on stage to talk about some of the advanced strategies of marketing online.. and i knew this will blow many newbies out of the league because when the newbies do not even know what is a sales funnel or PPC advertisments, all the talk about one-time offers, advanced adwords strategies etc will only confuse them in their new-found internet marketing journey..
plus the fact that some of these newbies could be new at such events organised by Success Resources and are not remotely aware of the fact that it is very typical of Success Resources to put speakers on stage to speak, and then slap the audience over and over again with sales pitches.. but then again if you think about it, how can a speaker share most of the things that he know without an hour or two? so it is not totally unrealistic for such sales pitches to happen because there will always be audience who wanted more and are willing to pay for it…
just my 2 cents worth
