I receive a very interesting email today about cancel your credit card before you die, I don't know whether it was a joke or not as it claimed to be from a reputable bank's customer service. The content is very much link to what I wanted to discuss here. It was interesting to see how when two persons talk with a different perspective, how communication can breakdown until such time that you just cannot tolerate it. It started with a bank credit card department called some one for an overdue annual fee for two month plus interest, the balance was $0 but with teh annula fee, it wnet up to $60 plus interested. Great Leaders are great communicators. They know what they know and say what the audiences wanted to hear. Most people talk but not communicated, the thought by just saying out what they wanted to say, they are communicating with the listeners. This mark the differentiation between a great leader and a mere mediocre leader. Great communicator always watch the responses of their audience and change their message to suit the listeners and get responses. They knew to be effectively communicate with their listener they must know the  background, culture, belief and many other things that affect the responses. Most people when they think of communication, they think it in a simplistic form, that is in the following format

Sender  --------> Message --------> Receiver

While this is common and normal, communication is much more than just sending out a message, the problem with this common format is that the Sender make some assumptions

1. He/She assume that the message will reach the receiver.

2. He/She assume that the receiver will understand the message

I was driving my wife's car last week and she had a set of Audio CD by Joe Girard, incase you do not know who Joe is, he hold The World's Greatest Salesman Certified by the Guinness World of Records. My wife bought Joe Audio and Book package after we attended his seminar. Joe is a great communicator, he talks with his whole body and at over 70 of age, he is as energetic as a 30 years old. Have you ever watch kids in kindergarten lesson, whenever their teacher asked a question many of them will raise their hand eager to answer the teacher's question.
