Can having Goal lead to Success?
That’s the question I asked on my last post. Everyone who attended motivational and self improvement seminar will hear the similar advice if not exactly the same. Set your goal, most trainers will quote the survey done by Yale University half a century ago on the student who set goal and who did not. Twenty years later, it was discovered that the 3% who set goal has a combine net worth more that the 97% who did not. Statistic could not be wrong!
One of the things I like about statistic is a quotation from a book “Artful Persuasion”
“There are no facts, only interpretations” Friedrich Nietsche
What happened in between this 2o years, it was not told and I guess no one is interested either. All we need to know when you have goal you will be successful. Personally I have not doubt about that. The question in point here is, most people took it in a simplistic form and believe that having goal will be enough to be successful.
I found this interesting, entertaining and enlightening video about on What’s the Secrets to Success. In the video, Ted mentioned 8 traits that needed to be successful after 7 years of research and 500 interviews. More than half of the 8 traits is about action. I particularly like his acronym for crap which is of course obstacles to success; find it out here.
I believe to be successful, it is more than just having Goal, Think about it and let The Law of Attraction work for you as many of the Secret Fans who believe so. It is also more than just action and working hard. History is full of people who have goal, work hard but still fail. The gossips paper or tabloids, is full of stories on the rich and famous who fall from grace. Aren’t they successful and rich once? Don’t they have goal?
In the classic book on Self Improvement by Dr. Maxwell Maltz “The Psycho Cybernetics” It says “We ACT, BEHAVE and FEEL according to what we consider our SELF-IMAGE to be, and we do not deviate from this pattern.” According to Dr. Maltz, there are people who suffer from the symptom of an inadequate self image and it is impossible psychologically to accept something that does not belong to you or inconsistent with your self.”
Is your Goal consistent with your self Image?

You are right.People who have poor self esteemed will sabotage themselves when they are near to success. Their subconscious tell them that they are not good for success, thus they will find ways to delay or sabotage their success.
By the ways thanks for posting a link to my site. It’s greatly appreciated.
Success is a concept that drives all of us. We search for this destination through our ambitions, our relationships, our home businesses and all areas of our lives. If we want to reach this objective we must understand what it is, how it is measured and how it is achieved. Our success is dependent on the road that we travel to discover it. ‘Failure is the stepping stone to huge success. Learn how to change your thinking to change your life’.
